On the day that welcomes the weekend, Friday’s sun was shining gloriously and when I returned to the crossroads where La Pedrera stood, the bright noon signaled that it’d be beautiful to be up in the balcony above. A brief walk-through the indoor exhibition and I was stepping out into the top floor as I remembered seeing the ventilation structures that reminded me so much of the ‘Ultraman’ series from younger days. From all rounded corners, I leaned and stared out into the sea, the hills and down at the city that sprawled beneath and allowed it to captivate me.
Though planning for an afternoon in another museum, the beaming sun led me to ascend the elevator up to Parc Guell. The afternoon spent daydreaming beneath a giant cross, overlooking the city once again. And later watching a match of Spain vs England – junior teams. Children, tourists and locals compete for the limited space along the mosaic outdoor sofa outlining the cliff while I retreated into alone into a cubicle of pineapple-inspired terrace. Two hours later, I was finally satisfied and headed back into the buzzing La Ramblas on a Friday evening.
