Barcelona : Laughing Alone

The Sagrada Familia is intimidatingly giant. It amazes me how one man’s vision can be so monumental and the fact that he puts it into action. While lining up to ascend the tower, I realised I have forgotten how to enjoy being with myself.  Still I can’t believe how much though he put into designing this building. Simply amazing!

Without a map, I wandered into a shopping street – Passeig de Gracia. Soon after with a stomach calling out for lunch, I walked into a tapas bar which probably catered for tourists and ordered my first dishes of authentic tapas. Much later I learned that lunch in Spain begins at 230pm not 12pm.

Strolling along Passeig de Gracia will indefinitely lead you to La Pedrera apartments, one of Anton Gaudi’s famed landmarks around the city. I sat on a street couch outside, looked up at them and decided that today wouldn’t be the day.

Instead I was entertained by an exhibition of Carlos Pazos at the Museu d’Art Contemporani. Never had I smiled and chuckled this way at art pieces before, particularly contemporary art which I usually am frowning in confusion.
