Barcelona : “You’re in Spain.”

“This is Christopher Columbus’ monument, he discovered America,” the proud Spanish introduced to me as we drove into Barcelona at past midnight. In a few turns, I was at the heart of the city – La Ramblas. Still weary and in disbelief, I sat to wait in car for a takeaway late supper. Earlier the night was a football match at the city’s revered attraction, Camp Nou. English fans, with their less-enthusiastic partners by their sides, where strolling after the match. From their looks, I assumed their team didn’t score as many goals as their fans would have liked.

Apart from the English fans, many other locals were still out and about. And I reminded myself, “You’re in Spain.”
