To End a Party with Delight

First impressions matter most? Yes, maybe. But how about last impressions?

Lately I have noticed my after meal necessities are becoming rather specific. A shot of espresso is most important. Sans dessert, I am happy to take a few bites of intense dark chocolate. But you can also serve me some luscious cakes (chocolate preferably) and petit fours (more chocolates, por favor!) and I’ll forget immediately if the food wasn’t that great.

As promised, the desserts from last week’s tapas birthday party that were simple enough to make but dazzling enough to impress everyone. And that is why we throw parties anyway, don’t you agree? For the compliments!

You could be a stressed out host, or a relaxed host. Dinner parties are for all to enjoy, including the one who had been slaving at the kitchen (or just perceived to be). These dessert can be easily made up to two days in advance so on that day itself, you can tick desserts off the long list of to-dos.

And if still you are feeling unsure about how good the desserts may turn out, do as I did and add into them generous amount of Kahlua. At least if the compliments came scarce, you can blame it on the alcohol-bias judgment.
