Sunday Roast Leg of Lamb

Serving lamb at home is an annual affair. Sundays are perfect days to stay in, laugh with a few good friends over a wholesome and delicious meal. Last Sunday, the highlight was my first time roasting a leg of lamb. A few good friends, who I chose because they seldom give honest opinions, came along to witness this occasion.

While taking bites into the lamb, we shared a good collection of travel experiences and learnt new travelling tips. One for example, Cambodians understand Hokkien so don’t discuss your bargaining strategy in front of them!

Not stealing the limelight away from the lamb, the side dishes were kept simple and refreshing. Here’s our Sunday roast menu :

  • Roast Leg of Lamb, marinated with anchovies, garlic, rosemary & thyme
  • Caramelised pear salad tossed with red wine vinaigrette
  • Roast parsley-flavoured potatoes
  • Sachertorte cake with maple-syrup flavoured cream
  • Lattes brewed with freshly ground Lavazza Grand Espresso beans

After coffee and cake, we adjourned to the piano with our most talented guest, SW, to play a listening game. SW’s fingers can translate in an extremely short time any tune that’s playing in his head or any that you sing out for him. Here we jogged up our memory attempting to guess a large repertoire of childhood cartoons (Thundercats, Smurfs, Pink Panther etc), tv serials (A-Team, Knight Rider, Sex & the City..) and game tunes (Super Mario Brothers!).

Great laughs, great company!
