Orechiette mit Speck, Melone und Petersilie

Volksgarten (Briennerstrasse 50, Munich) has a cosy courtyard, which when I
visited, was covered in silver glimmering snow thanks to an entire day
of heavy snowing.

Dawn, very well aware of how gastronomised (in other words, greedy) I
am, thought this would be an interesting place for me to try. She was
of course very right! Volksgarten’s menu is based on the season and it
serves up really cool combination of food. I recall having a grapefruit
soup with green peppercorns.

This was where I was served pasta with melon. My dish was named "
Orechiette with beef sirloin strips, melon, rocket & tomatoes ".

A tribute to Volksgarten, for now I dare mix pasta & fruit.

Orechiette mit Speck, Melone und Petersilie
(Orechiette with Bacon, Melon & Parsley)

2 cups orechiette, boiled to al dente
3 slices melon, diced
A handful chopped parsley
4 slices bacon, diced
Chopped garlic
200ml cream
Some butter
Salt & pepper to taste

Saute garlic and bacon in extra virgin olive oil till fragrant.
Add in parsley and a big dollop of butter.
Next goes in the cream.
When the cream starts boiling, throw in melon & pasta.
Flavour with salt and pepper.

Serve immediately!
