un mes sin cocinar

A month without cooking.  Also without food shopping had left me with enough time to see my private Spanish tutor four hours a week.  Hence the practice!

Year end weddings pile up every year around November and my count so far has been five! At least once each week.  Weddings are such a great reason to party, to reunite and to be merry.  Well, that is one of the reasons I’ve been missing from the kitchen.  F also had returned to Barcelona to work with his clients over there and spend time at home after being away for almost the entire year.  Cooking for one ain’t fun, I’m sure you would agree.

There was a definitive moment when I realised cooking as a profession for me was not where my true passion with food lies.  Years ago, through a friend’s recommendation, I was offered a catering job for a private party of 25.  Of course I thought, “There begins my career in food…..”  The moment was exact but the outcome was opposite.  That was the day I decided cooking will not be a profession.  For me, cooking was my way of nurturing and loving.  I enjoy cooking for my family and friends because I love them!  (Plus I am absolutely loving my job!!)

In a few weeks we’ll be cooking together again!  This time shopping for food at the mercados when we celebrate the end of another great year with family and friends in Barcelona.  ¡Hasta luego!
