Century Egg + Wine | Why Not?

Centuryegg

Arriving home from Singapore a few weeks ago, I literally dumped my luggage at home and headed back to C’s for these yummy goodies, that had been waiting for me patiently in her refrigerator for the past 3 days. They couldn’t wait any longer, or was it me who couldn’t? It was hilarious to hear her describe how she guarded these fragile and precious black jewels on her flight back from Hong Kong – like a mother hen.

Gooey and slimey, extremely tasty were these century eggs especially with the marinated ginger slices. As gratitude, I brought along a bottle of wine presented by a client the weekend before. Century eggs with French wine, aren’t we spot on with our food pairing?

Chateaudupape

The fragrant bouquet of this excellent bottle of wine from was bursting
through its cork even before we managed to pull it out! There were
three of us and in a blink, we’ve happily finished all 750ml of it.

Without any hangover the next morning, I asked V, the 76-year old wine
expert from Belgium about this vineyard. According to him, once the
Pope lived in this region in France. Personally I have no intention of
verifying his words, but if you do, I’d be happy to hear more about
it.
