Tegernsee

The weather was forecasted to be sunny and clear with a possible temperature up to 20C. The past four days had been spent indoors listening to lectures on embryology and cellular biology. Initially it was challenging for me to pay attention, I dropped Biology in secondary school due to a lack of interest. Luckily that was not all we did. We did play with plasticine to build muscles on skeletons and as always, had a lot of laughs.

A few of us set out to make use of this beautiful day to Tegernsee, larger than Schliersee which we visited last week. Just upon arrival at the main street, the scenes were so beautiful that we all bought a cone of gelato and just sat by the lakeside with our legs dangling off the edge to breathe all of it in.

Here in Tegernsee, I noticed the cars became fancier, almost everyone was fashionably dressed and armed with a fashionable pooch on a leash. So this is a playground for Bavaria’s wealthy people.

At a secluded ‘beach’ of the lake, we laid on the deck and dipped our toes into the freezing water while snacking on our packed lunch from the Berghof and tanning our legs. Before making our way back, we finished off the day with beer, coffee and Apfelstrudel at a lakeside café.

The beauty of Tegernsee could have been my only company for today, I could imagine spending the entire day alone without any qualms. In those 8 hours, I could almost not stop smiling and laughing thanks to the fabulous company. And they are :

C, my fellow Pilates teacher and now occasional travel partner. We were in Vancouver last year together. R, an Irish full time financial controller and part-time physical therapist. D from Munich, a computer scientist who wants to break out of it. F, the sweetest Spanish guy with amazing eyelashes. S, the Italian fitness trainer who lives in London who cracks us up with his natural Italian dramatics. And finally R, a physical therapist from Dresden who had become my German teacher and we drink a beer every night during our lesson.
