Putu Mayam | After A Gorge-ous Sunday

putu

Opportunistic were the Malaysian girls, the three of us. Using the excuse of a visitor from Singapore, we planned to show her the best of Malaysia. Lunch commenced at Nirwana Maju in Bangsar Baru where feverish banana leaf rice fans like us were spilling into the sidewalks despite the after shower humidity.

One closed banana leaf later, we began to walk into the opposite shopping mall. Standing to wait for each other take turns in fitting rooms and strolling from one store to another is not considered a form of exercise, I had to convince the other girls again and again. Not long later, they walked up to the cake counter at Marmalade. My small eyes popped open! I thought we just needed coffee to aid the digestion. With four girls, that large slice of orange ginger cake just disappeared! I’m guilty as charged.

With barely enough time to laze on the sofa back home, I was next driving back into town with the others in tow. Reservation had been made at El Cerdo. Despite our agreement to order sparingly, the waiter had to stop us from ranting on with our choices! Champagne, wine, jamon ham, pork ribs, rum n raisin pancakes with some backup (male) support….the night finally ended at almost midnight.

Now the day after, all I wanted and could have was putu mayam with freshly grated coconut and brown sugar. Not a thing more.
