I Pod

For the past year, my struggle to achieve a perfect cup of cappuccino had been arm-wrenching, often frustrating and rarely rewarding. Each cup began with beans grounded fresh in the manual cast-iron grinder. And most of the time, the first cup is poured down the sink because the grind was either too coarse or too fine.

The tedious process, which could have its benefit of preventing me from consuming too much coffee, didn’t commensurate with the rare almost perfect cup I achieved.

Then a bulb litted in my head, or more like someone just hit me on the head real hard. And I sat down to ponder, why all this trouble? Is it truly necessary to attain perfection every single time? The answer is no. And the answer is that I was obsessed, to the point of losing the plot.

So let’s step back and figure out, what is it that I like? A good cup of coffee. And there are two options – the long and tedious way or the easy way. I couldn’t find a reason to decline the easier method, that was still producing a darn good cup in a fraction of time.

Therefore now, I pod. Twice a day.
