Never have I seen white asparagus so thick. In exchange for a bed, a home and amazing
company in D & T’s apartment, they always agreed to barter with a meal
cooked for them which obviously I can’t complain at all.

Viktualienmarkt is located a corner away from the city’s
heart, Marienplatz and is a showcase of the best to offer in Munich. Produce from all over the world can be found next to cheese stores,
honey specialist, butchers and florists.

As usual, I go overboard with the shopping. With the Bak Kut Teh herbs I brought along
with me, the plan was to serve it just with stir-fried vegetable. But it all changed when my eyes landed on
these beautiful white asparagus.

It is unusually early to see them at this time of the year
most people tell me. The warmest winter
in the past 100 years had brought them out early enough. Perfect timing for me. That night, with the Bak Kut Teh, we enjoyed
these succulent asparagus which had been boiled till soft and coated with lemon
butter sauce.
